Project Description

Intégral Géotechnique provided expert witness advice at a Lands Tribunal Hearing in June 2002. The hearing was in connection with a dispute over compensation payments claimed by a landowner following compulsory purchase of property by the council in 1996. An important element of the claim was the mineral value of some 450,000 tonnes of blast furnace slag, contained in a land form known as Finger Tip. The slag originated from the historically important former Cyfartha Ironworks in Merthyr Tydfil and was deposited in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.

In valuing the deposit, Intégral Géotechnique carried out investigations of the type of materials in the tip and researched the contemporary market place for construction materials in 1996. Evidence was presented at a 5-day hearing in London, which contributed to a favourable finding by the Tribunal for our Client.
